Journey of Despair

        On these crumbling steps I stride,
        Under reddened skies,
        Over hill and dale I ride,
        As the black crow flies.
 
     To the truth as wise men say,
       Everywhere we go,
       As the hunter stalks its prey,
      Love is all I know.
 
      I journey as my gods command,
     To love’s highest peak,
     Following my hearts demand,
     To find what I seek.
     I seek the love of one so fair,
     Her eyes shine like the night,
     Focused in a dreamy stare,
     Her soul glows with light.
     My one desire to see her eyes,
     Windows to her heart,
     My whole life I’d sacrifice,
     To know where to start.
     My journey is unending,
     It cannot succeed,
     This message I am sending,
     Will not fulfill my need.
