I see her,
Through a window, through a door,
It matters not but she is there,
I feel a blackness inside me,
An empty hollow ache,
Like everything inside’s been torn
out,
I’m worthless,
I see the terror rise inside her,
Like I’m a wolf on the prowl,
Or a lion on the hunt,
And I’m gone,
I walk on, and she stays,
Her beautiful eyes frozen in fear,
I want to go back,
I want to tell her it’s alright,
To tell her there’s nothing to
fear,
But I can’t,
‘cause what scares her,
is me.
